    Young Performers

How fortunate I am to be able to work with such an incredible group of Elementary, Junior High and High School singers! We will continue monthly workshops which will culminate in a marvelous recital at Crossroads School on Saturday afternoon, June 2. Please put this date on your calendar right away. My hope is that all my students will be able to participate. (Time scheduled: Recital 1:00 P.M. Singers (only) will arrive at 11:00 A.M.)

    Adult Performance Workshop

Our group will continue to meet monthly to practice "the art of performing" and sharing our singing with each other, and hopefully with our family and friends. This has been a marvelous group, and truly supportive. If there is interest, I would like to also form an advanced performance workshop as well.

    Cycles of Creativity

This is an ongoing group which meets monthly and is facilitated by Carol. The year's work will begin on January 15, and focus on Clarissa Pinkola Estes' series, "Theater of the Imagination." Estes' work is presented as twelve lectures centered upon various myths which explore the creative process. Group members will be given a tape each month which will become the focus of discussion and exploration. The underlying goal of the year continues to be that each group member will be supported in moving toward or reaching their own goals and dreams. New members are welcome to join the on-going group.

    Alexander Technique

I would like to introduce my students to Julia Caulder, who is an AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique and is a graduate of the Alexander Training Institute of Los Angeles. Currently, she teaches the Alexander Technique at the Laura Henry Acting Studio, The Orange County High School of the Arts, as well as privately in Santa Monica. She is a professional singer with the Los Angeles Opera and Opera Pacific. Besides her Alexander Technique certification she recieved her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.

I have invited Julia to work with my students in a special workshop on January 25. It is my hope that in small groups that as many students as possible will choose to work with her on this day and hopefully others that will follow. Work with the body and singing is critical to realizing our fullest potential. I will give you more information on this workshop format during the month of January.
