    Teaching Schedule

By changing my schedule last September, I can finally make plans to support my students to move to their next levels of performance. I am scheduling Saturday workshops designed to give the opportunity for performance.

The educator in me sees performance not simply as a one time "showcase," but instead as a continual opportunity to grow and develop, surrounded and encouraged by a nurturing group of singers of similar age, musical styles or goals, etc. I envision the workshops as ongoing and with a purpose to create short performance opportunities in a variety of places for those groups of singers who are ready to perform.

    Performance

Preparing for a recital is a one time situation which is always uncomfortable for a singer (and the whole family, as well). What I wish for is more than that. Instead, I wish to form groups in various combinations of singers, which will be avaliable to perform in retirement homes, coffee shops, hospitals, etc. to practice the art of performing and to experience the service, healing and inspiration that their music can provide. The ongoing experience can give singers a consistency in performance which will be vital if he/she wishes to feel comfortable while performing.

My dream, also, is for the repertoire of each singer to grow in depth as well as quantity. Depth can only occur when experience is nurtured and explored on a continual basis. Quantity and vitality come when there is motivation and a feeling of satisfaction, as well as accomplishment.

At this point I propose that each particular group meet at least one Saturday a month. A professional accompanist will be with each group and there will be a minimal charge of $25.00 for each workshop. As the workshops evolve and each group creates its own structure, we will continually reassess the frequency of the meetings.

There are wonderful professionals that I would love to bring in for each group, in addition to my work with vocal technique and performance. As the groups develop, I would love to invite many other specialists to come in for master classes, etc., on particular topics.

I look forward to your feedback and am certainly available to answer any questions you may have.
